The difference in reading a book is that you actually become the narrator when you read your child a story or delve into a wonderful suspense novel. You get to become part of the experience. It is different to TV and cinema, where you just watch the actors have all the fun. It's time to start using our imaginations once again. We have a multitude of online book stores where books of all kinds are available, no matter where we live.
Back when I was a child, my parents would always emphasise the importance of reading. They wanted me to get involved with mystery books and novels suitable for my age. What I don't think a lot of people realise is how much this benefits the human mind. When you veg-out and watch television all day, your mind doesn't need to function much. All is presented right before you. On the contrary, it's not the same with reading fiction. When consumed by a great book, your imagination runs completely wild. It starts guessing, suspecting and putting pieces of the puzzle together. It has its own take on characters and what they look like. Your imagination pieces together the tale and develops its own picture. This is an awesome experience. It's much more involved than simply viewing a film or television series. You get to create your own images and settings to some extent. And most importantly, you get to become part of the experience by living vicariously through the characters. If you don't want to buy books at an online book store like Dorling Kindersley or Amazon, why not use your local library? Getting people reading, by whatever means, is an important goal in life. Being a parent means getting your children involved with mystery books and educational reading. It's imperative to start reading to them at an early age. This will ignite their curiosity and encourage them to read more as they grow into adults. There are mystery books and themed novels out there to suit virtually anyone. Find your niche and develop a habit of reading in your free time. Film and television are NOT the be-all and end-all to entertainment in the 21st century.
